Who We Are

Welcome to Washington International Club, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide a welcome for women coming to the Washington area from countries other than the United States and to encourage friendship between these women and the women of the United States.


Friendship and Understanding

The purpose of our Club is to promote friendship through understanding and understanding through friendship among women of all nations. 

Our programs provide an opportunity to share mutual interests, learn from each other, share our cultures with each other, and establish deep lasting friendships.  

For over 60 years, our guiding principles - The Four Ps: No Politics, No Protocol, No Projects, No Publicity - have helped our Club carry on our founder's vision.

Fascinating Programs

 

Our members enjoy trips to artists’ studios, exhibitions, and workshops and take trips in the DC area to destinations off the beaten track throughout the Club season from September through June.

  

Exploring Different Cultures

Our programs include visits to embassies where we learn about the cultures of many countries from around the world, as well as programs where members themselves share their own travel experiences and broaden our horizons. 

  

International Cuisine

Cooking demonstrations, specialty dishes, and recipes shared by members give us a rare pleasure of tasting different national cuisines.


 

Volunteering

Members exercise their many skills and talents as they plan fun, creative, and educational programs and volunteer by organizing and hosting events.

Meet Our New Members

A New Member Orientation was held  to welcome new members - US, US Naturalized, and International. A warm welcome to our newest members.
The deadline for new member applications is August 10, 2026 .


Club Highlights
Outgoing President Gail Landau and the Board of Directors of Welcome to Washington International Club hosted the Annual Meeting and Luncheon for all members on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Columbia Country Club. This was a year to celebrate a record number of fun-filled and educational events. We drew upon an increasing number of our volunteers to organize and present events, share their own knowledge and expertise as presenters, and express their creativity and interests. We enjoyed visits to embassies with our diplomatic friends and emphasized an appreciation for our own world capital.

Providing a warm welcome to members from the US and around the world are members of the Registration Team. 




Welcome Clubs International


Welcome to Washington International Club is proud to be a member of Welcome Clubs International - linking independent women’s organizations around the world.  All WTW members are automatically WCI members.









WCI is actively engaged with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), having been recognized and granted Special Consultative Status on June 24, 2020.  WCI designates official representatives to the United Nations Headquarters in New York and United Nations offices in Geneva and Vienna.
